This investigation was initiated by a petition from Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who is also a member of the Democratic Party.

The investigation targets six people, four of them city councilmen and a former city councilman, according to the petition that Nessel's office forwarded Friday to the Free Press. Wayne County records reviewed previously by the Free Press showed only two city councilmen were under investigation.
